PBS will air the concert held in Washington D.C. to honor country music legend Willie Nelson. The performances were part of the ceremony in which Nelson received the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Alison Krauss, Jamey Johnson and Roseanne Cash are just a few of the artists who paid tribute to Nelson. The concert will air tonight at 9 p.m.
Just months after he became the first country artist to receive the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, Willie Nelson is releasing a Gershwin brothers tribute album. “Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin” will be available on February 26th. It will feature eleven of what Nelson calls some of the greatest songs ever penned. “Love Is Here to Stay,” “I Got Rhythm” and “Summertime” are just a few of the songs chosen for the album.
