Willie Nelson is the first country artist to receive the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. He was celebrated in Washington, D.C. at an invitation-only gala on November 18th. Rosanne Cash, Jamey Johnson, Alison Krauss and Neil Young are among the artists who were there to pay tribute to Nelson. The concert was taped and will air on PBS on January 15, 2016. The Gershwin Prize “celebrates the work of an artist whose career reflects lifetime achievement in promoting song as a vehicle of musical expression and cultural understanding.”
