Loretta Lynn has a new album on the way. The country icon is currently prepping her first release under a new multi-album deal she’s inked with Legacy Recordings. She’s been working with her daughter Patsy and Johnny Cash’s son John Carter Cash on the project, which label reps say taps into her Appalachian folk and gospel roots. The still untitled disc is slated for release next year. It’ll be Lynn’s first studio set since her Grammy-winning 2004 effort “Van Lear Rose.”
News of Lynn’s record deal follows her surprise appearance at Wednesday’s CMA Awards. She took the stage with Kacey Musgraves during the event to perform her 1971 hit, “You’re Lookin’ At Country.”
